Children With Special Needs - Heartfelt Poetry

THIS CHILD OF MINE

"I'll lend you for a little time, a child of mine. He said,
For you to love while he lives, and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief."

"I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there, I want this child to learn
I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lane, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call him back again?"

I fancied that I heard them say: "Dear Lord, thy will be done."
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may,
And for all the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay;
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we've planned;
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try and understand.

DEAREST MOMMY

When you wonder the meaning of life and love,
Know that I am with you.
Close your eyes and feel me kissing you
in the gentle breeze across your cheek.
When you begin to doubt that
you shall ever see me again,
Quiet your mind and hear me,
I am in the whisper of the Heavens,
Speaking of your love
When you lose your identity,
When you question who you are
and where you are going
Open your heart and see me
I am the twinkle in the stars
smiling down upon you
Lighting the path for your journey
When you awaken each morning
not remembering your dreams
But feeling content and serene
Know that I was with you
Filling your nights with thoughts of me
When you linger in the remnant pain
Wholeness seeming so unfamiliar
Think of me
Know that I am with you
Touching you through shared tears of a gentle friend
Easing the pain
As the sunrise illuminates the desert sky
in that breathtaking brilliance, awaken your spirit
Think of our time together, all too brief, but ever brilliant
When you were certain of us together
When you were certain of your destiny
Know that God created that moment in time
Just for us
I am with you always.

DEAREST MOTHER

I'm sorry that I'm not quite right. I'm not so normal as I should be. I know you are sad, I know your heart aches, I see all the tears roll down your face. You've waited nine long months for me...and now I'm not quite right.

But Mother, dear Mother. Don't harden your heart to me when you gaze at me. Please don't see just what is wrong. Rather - see how much I'll have to give to you. Yes, I will need extra care from you. My demands will be greater than others, just because I'm not quite right

But mother, Your reward will be higher, the treasures in your heart will be greater, For as you have give me more love, tenderness, and care, God will give you greater measures of all these things you need. And in the years to come people will see in you the fruit of love, gentleness, patience and kindess because of what you've given to me.

For God in His wisdom looked down from above and, knowing I need extra care and not love, He choose you for me - the very bst of mothers... So here I am, even though I'm not quite right.
